From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A Society or a human society is a group of people related to each other through persistent relations such as social status, roles and social networks. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions. Without an article, the term refers either to the entirety of humanity or a contextually implicit subset. Used in the sense of an association, a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, language or hierarchical organization. Like other groupings, a society allows its members to achieve needs or wishes they could not fulfill alone. independent of, and utterly irreducible to, the qualities of constituent individuals; it may act to oppress. The urbanization and rationalization inherent in some, particularly Western capitalist, societies, has been associated with feelings of isolation and social "anomie". More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony. From Wikipedia under the

Asked by Stanley - Fri Jan 16 09:41:52 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I'd really need your definition of society. Well first, I don't think 'evil' exists. Secondly, in terms of society being civilization, nature can bring out what one might conceive to be the worst too. Ever seen a hungry lion's interaction with an antelope? Not very pretty, but very natural though. It is common knowledge that eating another living person, is a bad or wrong thing. My main point is that like nature, society can seem a bad thing but it also has it's perks. Also, society is driven and maintained by nature, they're not very far apart, in my opinion. (Now, concerning bombs and guns not being natural, they're just tools too commonly available for all the people that don't know how to act civilized but I don't think they should be… [cont.] Answered by The Confounded Gypsy - Fri Jan 16 10:18:39 2009 How much do you identify yourself with society in which you live ? Q. I want your thoughts! Should we assume that: - the world will continue on in it's normal form and no form of rapture will occur and therefore there is no point in preparing the masses for an armageddon. - the world will undergo massive changes when the Messiah returns and it is our duty as a society to prepare everyone on the planet for this historical event. Please share your thoughts! Asked by AF - Fri Oct 23 11:14:20 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. How about a first class education that everyone can be proud of and freedom from all of that religio-political stuff ? Maybe then we can start to advance as a society and get back some of those years we have lost whilst we were being restrained by religious control.
